NASHA - The CD Project
The Beginning
It started when he was a winner in the local talent competition, Mastana Bahar in 1991. Following this, Indar’s popularity grew in the entertainment industry in Trinidad and Tobago, performing at several events. His ear for music led to his ability as a musical arranger and as band leader for the Trishul Orchestra His fame spread throughout the Caribbean and into the West Indian communities of North America. As a presenter with Radio 90.5FM he touches the loves of listeners everyday.
The Meeting
In December 2005, Indar worked as musical director for the Bollywood Music Awards in Trinidad. He met his mentor, Kumar Sanu at the event hosted by The People’s Station Radio 90.5FM. It was a great thrill since Indar has been dubbed the “local Kumar Sanu” by his fans in Trinidad. As they say, sometimes people cross paths for a cosmic reason…. Indar Kanhai and Kumar Sanu hit it off and became friends.
NASHA
The idea for this album was Kumar Sanu’s who says he sees a bit of himself in Indar and perhaps that’s why the Guinness Book of World Records holder decided that he would be the Music Director for “NASHA”. Two singers from two different parts of the world, different backgrounds, two cultures, one love – Music. The guru meets the student and the student emanates the guru!
The epitome is NASHA (intoxication).
This is a milestone in the cultural history of Trinidad and Tobago. The People’s Station Radio 90.5FM is pleased to be the vehicle for this project.
